Fort, Jamestown, Virginia
Built between 1607 and 1610, James Fort was the first English
settlement in America. Faced with rugged hardships only 59 of
the 500 settlers survived the winter of 1609-1610. The ships
you see in the painting are the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and
Discovery, replicas of the ships that brought the first explorers
to the New World. |
